Kids With a Mission Project
Did you know that each month the children of CUMC are encouraged to participate in a collection to help with a mission? Kids with a Mission is a way for the children of the church to be in mission to others. Past collections have been children’s books for GRACE Ministries, filled shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, hats and gloves for the homeless, peanut butter and jelly for food baskets, dried beans for Western Fairfax Christian Ministry, Beanie Babies for Easter Baskets and spare change for the Crisis Club. As Jesus tells us in Matthew 22:39, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” the Children’s Ministry encourages children of all ages to participate in these collections as a way to teach children about giving to others.
Parents, please discuss the monthly collection with your children. Suggest ways that they can participate in the collection by setting aside a time to go shopping and discuss ways they can pay for the donation by doing extra chores around the house or doing work for a neighbor. Share with your children mission opportunities that you are involved in helping. Make mission giving a part of your family. |

Bible Buddies
Bible Buddies is a Fellowship Group for children ages 3-5 years old (pre-kindergarten). The group meets on Monday afternoons from 4:00 - 5:00 PM in Room 116. There is a Bible Buddies leader, but parents also volunteer on a rotating basis as helpers each week. Children listen to a short bible story, create a craft, listen to music and enjoy a snack.
JUMP
JUMP stands for Junior United Methodist People and it is made up of three fellowship and mission groups for children at Centreville UMC. There is a fellowship group for K-2nd Graders, for 3rd and 4th Graders, and for 5th and 6th Graders. All elementary age children are invited to join JUMP! Bring a friend!

Nurseries are available during the 9:00 and 11:00 worship services for children under 2 years. They are staffed by paid managers who are assisted by parent volunteers. Nurseries are located at the east end of the education wing on the ground level. Parents who wish to worship with their infants and toddlers may prefer to sit near the back of the Sanctuary. Also, the beautiful CUMC Narthex (lobby) is designed to double as a "crying room" where parents can hear and see the service while their children play comfortably without disturbing others. There are many options for parents of the youngest in the church family.
Nursery Pager System The Sunday nurseries have pagers for parents leaving their children in the infant or toddler nurseries. The pagers vibrate so as not to disturb others. Parents who feel a bit apprehensive about leaving their child on Sunday morning may request a pager from the nursery manager.
CUMC Nurseries continue to blossom More volunteers are needed Sunday mornings during the 9:30 AM or 11:00 AM services with infants and toddlers. If you can help care for the youngest in our church family for 1 hour every other month, contact Patricia Granberg, 703/830-2684 ext 1867 or

Children of all ages are welcome in worship. CUMC considers children equal members of the family of faith and of the church family, and believe that experiencing worship is an essential part of faith formation for growing children. In worship children are drawn closer to God; they can gain strength from being with other believers, and learn to focus on God through prayer, music and scripture. In order to help children feel more involved in worship, a special Children's Bulletin is prepared for them each Sunday so they can follow the order of worship more easily. Ask an usher for one or find one on the welcome table in the CUMC narthex (lobby). Children can also participate in worship by serving as choir members, acolytes, offering helpers, greeters and readers. |
