Monthly Mission Moment
Did you know that each month the children of CUMC are encouraged to participate in a congregation-wide mission project? Monthly Mission Moments are a way for the children of the church to be in mission to others alongside with the rest of the congregation. Each month's Mission Moment will be promoted in the Monthly KidsPoint. As Jesus tells us in Matthew 22:39, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” the Children’s Ministry encourages children of all ages to participate in these mission opportunities as a way to teach children about giving to others.
Parents, please discuss the Monthly Mission Moments with your children. Suggest ways that they can participate in the Monthly Mission Moment by setting aside a time to go shopping and discuss ways they can pay for the donation by doing extra chores around the house or doing work for a neighbor. Share with your children the mission opportunities that you are involved in helping. Make mission giving a part of your family.

Christian Education Appreciation Sunday is held each June to honor the very dedicated teachers and leaders who share God's word with the children of CUMC.
3rd Grade Bible Sunday
All third graders are presented with children's Bibles on Children's Sabbath Sunday each fall. This is a special celebration of a milestone in each child's faith journey.
Join for an afternoon of fall family fun as kids wear their favorite costumes, play carnival games, jump in a bouncy house, and enter an exciting drawing. Fall Festival is is held each year at the end of October. There opportunities for youth and adults to serve in order to make this exciting event happen.
Birthday Party for Baby Jesus
Each December as we prepare to celebrate Jesus' birth, all preschoolers through 6th grade share in a Birthday Party for Baby Jesus celebration. Adult volunteers are needed to prepare story, craft and game stations for the preschoolers.
Children's Christmas Eve Services
Each Christmas Eve, CUMC has two Children's services at 5 pm and 6:30 pm. There are acting (non-speaking) and reading parts for third graders through sixth graders. There are also singing parts for Kindergartners through sixth graders. Let us know if your child would like to share their gifts in this special service.
The following list are the Family Worship Days in 2013. Some of these Sundays are holiday weekends and others are Sundays in which other special events are happening. On the Family Worship Days, there will be no Sunday School for K-12th as we seek to encourage families to take these opportunities to worship together. Unless otherwise noted the only classes provided on these Sundays will be nursery and preschool.
If your adult Sunday School class continues to meet on the following dates, please plan accordingly.
March 31, 2013 - Easter Sunday
May 26, 2013 - Memorial Day Weekend
July 21, 2013 - VBS Sunday

October 27, 2013 - Children’s Sabbath & 3rd Grade Bible Sunday
December 29, 2013– Christmas Family Worship Sunday *
*(NO preschool-12th grade Sunday School)
Children of all ages are welcome in worship. CUMC considers children equal members of the family of faith and of the church family, and believe that experiencing worship is an essential part of faith formation for growing children. In worship children are drawn closer to God; they can gain strength from being with other believers, and learn to focus on God through prayer, music and scripture. In order to help children feel more involved in worship, a special Children's Bulletin is prepared for them each Sunday so they can follow the order of worship more easily. Ask an usher for one or find one on the welcome table in the CUMC narthex (lobby). Children can also participate in worship by serving as choir members, acolytes, offering helpers, greeters and readers. For more information about empowering your child to participate in worship services, please contact Patricia Granberg at
or call the CUMC office (703-830-2684).
