Congregational Book Read PDF Print E-mail

Beginning Sunday, September 26th, we will be using Adam Hamilton's book Enough: Discovering Joy Through Simplicity and Generosity for a 5-week sermon series in worship. Small groups will meet weekly using the book and a DVD guide. Books will be available for purchase and sign-ups for small groups will begin in mid-September. Join us for this church-wide journey through stewardship!

 
CS Lewis Institute PDF Print E-mail

The C.S. Lewis Institute endeavors to develop disciples who can articulate, defend and live faith in Christ through personal and public living. This fall, two free special opportunities will be presented by the institute:

The Screwtape Letters with Jerry Root, Adjunct Professor at Wheaton College. This will be held on Friday, October 1st from 7:30-9:30pm and Saturday, October 2nd from 9:00am-Noon at Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church in Annandale, VA.

Affluenza: The Effects of Affluence on the Soul and Society and How to Overcome Them with Michael Ramsden of Ravi Zacharias International Ministries. This will be held on Saturday, November 13th from 9:am-Noon at The Falls Church in Falls Church, VA.

First Steps PDF Print E-mail

New Member classes aren't just for new members! Whether you are transferring your membership from another dnomination or another United Methodist Church, are a new believer, or have been a member of CUMC for decades...this class is for you! Take the First Steps along the Pathway to Discipleship by discovering what discipleship means. First Steps is a series of six classes, which will be offered three times a year, and will feature a variety of topics taught by clergy and members. The topics include, History and Doctrine of Methodism, an Introduction to the Bible, What do you Believe, How Christians Live in the 21st Century, Spiritual Gifts, and Becoming an Active Member.  Classes will meet Sundays from 9:30- 10:30 AM in the Fellowship Hall classroom. The next class series will begin on Sunday, October 3, 2010. Spiritual Formation Class PDF Print E-mail

This class is aimed toward adults who are interested in pursuing a more vibrant faith walk with Jesus Christ. This fall we will be participating in the congregational book read in October, using Adam Hamilton's book, Enough. In November we will be using John Ortberg's book, The Life You've Always Wanted.

Disciple I Bible Study PDF Print E-mail

This 34-week class will provide an in-depth study of the Bible that moves through the biblical stories of Creation to the New Jerusalem, giving equal time to the Old and New Testament. DISCIPLE invites each person to bring their experiences and struggles to the Scripture in order to experience the power of God's Word. Cost is $35 for study guide. Childcare is available with advanced reservation.
